At Montessori Garden Nursery School we discovered the textures, colours, outfits, stories and tastes of Africa during Black History month!
Laura brought in a beautiful dress from Coffee Bay in South Africa and the children listened with interest the story of this dress.
We read the story of “Handa’s Surprise” and the children studied and peeled and chopped the plantains for the adults to fry and serve for tea.
The children also explored various African and Afro Caribbean musical instruments, we sang the “Coconut Woman” song and dances!
